After three months of bed-rest, I'm glad to report that we finally SAFELY have our Destiny. We scheduled an induction date for January 30th. After days of constant contractions, Tuesday, the contractions weren't too bad so I decided to make a grocery run to Wal-Mart, knowing it might be the last chance I'd have for a while. The contractions at the store got REALLY bad and after getting home, Jon and I decided it was finally time to head to the hospital. We packed up our bags, unsure if they would send us home telling us it was false labor again. We got to the hospital around 7pm. After an hour, they admitted me and we called Erica to come pick up Felicity.
The labor wasn't progressing fast enough, so they gave me pitocin to speed things up. Things still went really slow. I couldn't seem to get dialated past a 6, even with high dosages of pitocin.
Fast forward to the next day, around 6:30, just before the change of nurses, they decided that my doctor needed to come in and break my water or things weren't going to progress. Just before he arrived, they checked me again and I was dialated to a 10 and ready to start pushing. Around that time, we got a phone call from Erica saying she needed to go to work and we needed someone to watch Felicity. PANIC MODE!!! I was trying to hold labor off while Jon made calls, trying to find someone to watch Felicity. Destiny would be here any second. After 3 attempts at trying to find a babysitter, my doctor showed up and said I needed to start pushing. They baby would be here in less than three minutes. I started crying. Jon was out of the room and I had no idea if he would make it back in time -- or who would be watching Felicity. Finally, Jon found someone, and made it back in the room.
Everything went really quickly after that. I calmed down and started pushing. After four pushes, a BEAUTIFUL baby girl was placed on my stomach. What an amazing experience. She was so beautiful!!!
